A Must Have DVD
« on: May 22, 2013, 06:27:38 pm »
I am never enthusiastic about foreigners

who make dvds about African history, people etc.

There are many things that never make me enthusiastic.

I heard a so called/ self called Nigerian expert for example

call Lagos the capital of Nigeria a few weeks ago.

Something like that immediately told me the so called expert did not have any clue.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
If this lady sings she sends shivers down my spine, and I wish I could understand Kiswahili. So if i come across this dvd I will buy it.
As for the man who doesn't know the capital of Nigeria, he probably also thinks Kinshasa is still called Leopoldville. Forget about him.

One of the Greatest East African artists.  I saw her on Zanzibar a couple of times with my mother.
She was I believe in her 80's at that time.  I'm going to definitely look for the video.

BTW a little FYI did you know Freddy Mercury from Queen was born on Zanzibar but later moved to the UK?

I hope this will be picked up somehow by PBS public broadcasting in the US so that a wide audience can see it, not just folks with ability to order items on line. Wow, that was great! There is nothing like being able to talk to the older generation for their perspectives on life, or at least have the interviews we can learn from in later years. God Bless Her!!
