Kenyan benga star passes

I just learned that 70s and 80s bandleader Peter Mwambi died and a funeral was held early this week (on Monday the 20th, possibly the 21st).  He was the leader of the Kyanganga Boys Band and also did some "one man guitar" for a period.  There are a few of his songs on Youtube and he did have one song on the CD compilation, Guitar Paradise of East Africa.  One of the greats of Kamba music for that era. 

I haven't yet seen any press coverage of this so I'm lacking details for a proper obituary.  My wife just passed this information to me from Ukambani.

I'm sorry to read this.
I have that CD compilation and that song is probably the only piece of music I have of Peter Mwambi. I just played it again and realised what a delightful little gem it is.
Let his soul rest in peace.
