« on: December 04, 2015, 12:18:40 pm »
A seminal figure in both Mandingue and Wassoulou musical traditions, Awa Sangho was born on the edge of the Sahara, near Timbuktu in Northern Mali. Awa burst onto the music scene in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, as singer-songwriter with the pioneering and popular girl group Les Go De Koteba. She has worked in collaboration with many top West African musicians, including on kora master Ballake Sissoko's world famous "Chamber Music" album. January 14, she celebrates the upcoming MASA festival which takes place this March in Abidjan, in support of African performing arts.
