« on: July 24, 2013, 05:36:39 pm »
After a 7 years' absence, Stern's will release a new album by Senegalese salsistas Africando on sept. 24.
Apart from the band's core singers Medoune Diallo, Sekouba Bambino and Amadou Balleke plus Tabou Combo singer Shoubou, the album will feature songs by among others veteran singers James Gadiaga (Royal Band Thiès), Rene Cabral (Cabo Verde Show) and former Grands Maquisards / TPOK Jazz singer Lokombe Ntal.
Have a little taste on soundcloud here: https://soundcloud.com/sterns-music/africando-doundari-feat-se

Is this an album from Africando but the sing other artists songs?

Is this the same Lokombe of the TPOK Jazz?

I'd love to hear an album with Africando and Ricardo Lemvo.

A typical Africando album consists of classic songs done latin style. Songs made famous by the individual singers or by others; like Nyboma and Emeneya dueting on a Papa Wemba song on the 2003 album Martina.

This is the same Lokombe Ntal who sings now with Dizzy's Odemba OK All Stars.

Me too. And then seeing them play it in concert!

This is why they do not do it for me.

I have not been able to get myself to buy their album. Maybe I should listen to them again.

Which Africando Album should I try?

Try the live album. The live version of Betece is fabulous.

I saw them once on Christmas night, somewhere in the late 90s. It was party time from start to finish.
GnonnasPedro was one of my favorite singers, but unfortunately he died in 2004.
