Super Djata reincarnated?

Good news for everyone who, like me, lamented the disappearance of the great Malian dance orchestras like Super Biton, Super Djata, Les Ambassadeurs and National Badema.

Bamba Wassoulou Groove was formed by Bamba Dembele, former percussionist and long time member of Zani Diabate's Super Djata Band. Today he is the leader of a band made up of young musicians, determined to revive the golden era of Malian dance band music. I must say, after watching them last month, that they succeed in every respect. This is a band with the drive and energy that brings you right back to those days when Malian music meant that you could dance to the most groovy rhythms and funky guitar solos you ever heard.
