I saw it on Stern's Facebook page today. It seems to have been confirmed.
If so, Congo, and not just Congo but Africa and the World, has lost one of the great voices, a pioneer of rumba, a great and generous man.
Adieu, Grand Seigneur Rochereau...

another loss to Congolese Music  in Tabu Leys passing. but he had been in poor health for a very long time. What he contributed to music cannot ever be forgotten. He was one of my first favourites   when I began listening many years ago

May He Rest In Forever Peace!!

Surely it's lisanga ya baganga reloaded in that  heavenly rumba band in heaven.  This is effectively the close of the  second generation group chapter.... mbote na ye Grand Kalle Jeff, Nico wa Kassanda, Vicky Longomba, Franco Luambo Makiadi et all. Adious Le segnoir Pascal Tabu Roceherou, Africa will cherish you for ever!

I was  in Mwanza recently, with my friends Roy Mubenga and Benno Villa, talking of Ley and his music. I feel soooo sad abt the whole issue. RIP Rochereau.

The Seigneur Tabu Ley Rochereau is no more.

He has joined the members of his Afrisa International Orchestre like the Roger Iziedi, Dr. Nico -

and those he brought up - like Bopol Mansianmina - and his compatriots - like the Grand Kalle,  - that are now late.

May the Good Lord comfort his family in difficult time.

MHSRIP.

This is another reminder the giants are all getting up there in age.

Heard it from someone who attended the funeral that the documented names of the children in the burial program was 50 but about 108/9 showed up during the burial, including the youngest who was 7 years !!!!

I doubt it. I think 100 children include grand children. I highly doubt it. I saw a interview not long ago with some of Tabu Ley's grand children.

Why do you doubt it FPK He slept his way across Africa States and wherever else he was. I was talking to someone a week ago and Tabu Ley RIP was notorious for that and of course as were many other artists...
