Title: FORUM PLEASE READ
Post by: Alli on April 09, 2013, 06:41:25 am
Unfortunately I do not for see this FORUM  doing much in way of membership. With the other social medias available like Face Book and Twitter Accounts regular discussion forums are not generating like they previously had.

AFRICAMBIANCE has always been my baby  years ago when we first began membership thrived. Circumstances occurred  it divided.

I would appreciate some input from those who still post here if you want me to remain online or do I take it down permanently.

 Thank You in Advance.....Alli Admin

I still enjoy the forum when it is used.
Unfortunately, I'm really not in a position where I have a lot of time to devote here or anyplace else on line right now.
I would miss contact, however fleeting, with many members if it were gone.

I would like to keep this forum active.  It has seen me through many challenging times. It was my  outlet while undergoing treatment for Cancer as well as the loss of my younger brother just shortly after my surgey.

I will keep it going for the time being and hopefully we can add some new things. There are so many who are not into the whole Fally Ipupa  hysteria. I know I am not. I rather talk about the older stars of Congolese Music  and maybe some new upcoming artists.  ;)

I've been following this forum since its beginnings.  I don't post as much these days because I really don't have much to say about current African music but, when I have something to contribute, I appreciated the opportunity.  I check-in regularly to see what others have to say.  I hope the forum will continue.

Like Douglas, I've been here since the old AOL forum collapsed. Over the years we've seen the forum thrive, explode, go under and come back again. Now times are low again and forum members (including myself) who used to post frequently don't contribute as much as they used to or have disappeared altogether. This is a pity. Still, like you said, not all of us are into the Fally Ipupa hysteria...  This is the only forum that doesn't exclusively focus on hot topics like the Wenge wars or the Fally-Ferre controversy. Here you can have serious debate about, for instance, classic highlife... where else would I go if I want to talk about Victor Olaiya or Nico Mbarga? No, without Africambiance I would miss all that.
It is unfortunate that some prolific members like WHTTR and Wuod Kwatch are no longer here, or that Tutulu isn't much around, or that David doesn't have the time to contribute. But wait and see... things might change.
Keep the baby alive!

I was vey busy last last year ending which sort allowed the music discussion to wear off me.

Plus the fact that such knowledgeable men as Wuod Kwatch and co were not here anymore

or were less active, didn't make this place a must place to stop by even if I had only 5 mins on the computer.

I am a bit less busy now, but the men that made this place fun are not here anymore or are not active.

I do not think Facebook or Twitter has anything to do with the current lull.....One can't discuss Victor Olaiya or Late Bpobby Benson for example on Facebook or Twitter.

The fact that Wuod is not here should not deter you from providing what information and insight you have, You have always had a wealth of information and for one person to prevent that you should take it as a sign to do your thing on the forum

No one knows where Wuod disappeared to It's not just the friends here it's right through other circles he has left in their entirety  From years back before AA was even on board. Like he fell off the face of the earth.
I suspect he may have returned to Kenya with his family.

Alli, I just joined today. This should give you hope and for people like me that facebook and twitter will never replace everything. Also, have a facebook contact and invite friends with Africa names. It takes time to build.

I joined another forum Vibesdafrique and it yanked off a couple of weeks ago. So I searched and found your forum ;D. This forum can be built up like that.

I like Koffi, Werra, JB, MJ30, Papa Wemba, Wenge, and endless.

I too have been disappointed at the disappearance of lively contributors like Wuod, Soukousman, WHTTR, etc.
One problem is that the music most of us favor is no longer being made. There is little new to discuss.
But the bigger problem is the lack of a critical mass of lively commentators.
Vibres d'Afrique seemed to have a bigger draw, but those people really like Fally Ipupa, etc. And now that site is down without a trace.  Where are all those people going to go? Wouldm't mind seeing them come here, even if there was a lot of enthusiastic talk about the latest noisy, monotonous releases.
Anyway, thanks, Alli, I think it is important to keep this site going. Where's there's life there's hope.

With Social Media taking over much of the  interests especially when there is little involved more discussion forums re slowly disappearing. For a time I was going to just close it down. I was having health issues. Cancer is such a  confusing illness days you feel great other times you can barely get out of bed. However I am determined as long as I am still able I will continue with this forum. It may be a little quiet  but there is always something we can discuss.
Been doing this 6 years God willing I will still be here for another 6 years....with company like the members we have things will be fine..... :D

Newfan...you said my mind.

I guess most of those people left here initially and think they can not come back.

It is the fact that there are not a number of lively discussants who are also music afficionados.

Then Tutulu a solution to that is start something You are quite knowledgeable in music It's OK to keep saying there are no conversations but another to start something.
I don't believe Soukousman is gone for good He is a student been busy and on the other forum there were some nasty accusations levied against him I don't blame him for shying away. He has been here since he was 15 years old....

I was a student until a couple of years ago and this community helped me get through

especially when I need a break from studying.

I think I am trying.

Greetings to all of you,

I am back. I have been away for some time, my apologies. Alli, we need this forum up. I, for instance, am very selective when it comes to joining online forums...and this is the only one that I am a member of. It means a lot to me. I have met several friends here, and we have shared a lot. I think we can do better. Let's all support Alli by keeping the forum alive...
