The greatest ever? There were so many great ones. Perhaps it's a matter of taste, but that's a bold claim.

African Music / Sekou "Diamond Fingers" Diabate

I am doing a lot of Mandingue shows lately.  When doors open, the clubs aren't full for a while as people filter in.  So, while I hook up my video feed and get a drink from the bar, I like to put on something long.  So, I've been going with Bembeya Jazz National's Montagne, which is 18:31 long.  Listening to this track so many nights, I've come to realize it's really a masterpiece, and that Sekou "Diamond Fingers" Diabate is, hands down, the greatest guitar player out of Africa ...ever.

The late Pierre Tchana live playing alongside the Dina Bell and Epee et Koum.

I would give arm and leg for this video recording.

African Music / Re: Nonexisting Empire Bakuba album?

I am not familiar with it but it obviously was made after Pepe Kalle's death.
But the samples still sound very good, so I recommend.

African Music / Nonexisting Empire Bakuba album?

I was on my frequently music hunt when I stumbled over this "album" on Apple Music.
I have never heard of this album (Papy Tex & Empire Bakuba - Wasiwa) before and no info exists on the web.
The artwork on the cover is really amatour.
Not even the titles are found anywhere. You can listen to samples of the songs.
Mystery
Please enlighten me if possible.
